Field Trip to Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania on Sat., January 9th
On Saturday, January 9, we will head north to Pennsylvania Dutch Country, to visit the Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania.
The sanctuary is located on 22 acres of natural woodland, near Lititz, Pa. For over 20 years this land has been a refuge to wolves, which have been extinct in the wild in Pennsylvania for over 100 years. We’ll be able to get photographs of these wild animals in their native habitat. The sanctuary provides food, shelter and veterinary care for over forty wolves.
There are three tour options for those who want to come along. The first is to go on a public tour, which begins at noon. For this tour, you need no reservation, and the cost is $7.00 per person ($6.00 for seniors). The second option is the photography session for “serious photographers”. Reservations are required for this 2-hour tour, and you can choose from two start times; 7:00 a.m., or 2:30 p.m. The cost for this tour is $50.00 per person. The third option is a 3-hour private tour for photographers, which costs $75.00 per person. The start times are the same as for the 2-hour tour.
There is one important point that folks do need to know, however, before you sign up for this trip. The Sanctuary does have chain-link fences around the wolf enclosures, so that all photography must be though those fences. I think that this problem can be overcome using the right lens and technique, but it is something all should know.
If you would like to join us on this trip, contact me either by e-mail, at
